3 Years Today - and That's a Wrap, Folks!

Well, today is the 3 year anniversary of my weight loss surgery. I hover around 163 give or take 2 pounds, and I'm happy. I wear a Size 8 when I'm lucky, and a Size 10 the rest of the time. I feel great, I eat to hunger and so long as I avoid sugar and do my exercise (Bikram Yoga is my exercise of choice) I maintain my weight easily.

My band is just right - I run into problems maybe once or twice a month, which let's me know it's still working :) The rest of the time I eat smaller portions than 'normal' folks but by no means is it ridiculously small. Breakfast may be 1 egg with 1 piece of toast; lunch is 1 oz of cheese, 5 crackers and some nuts; dinner is 3-4 oz. of fish and some veggies and maybe a baby potato. I snack here and there.

Life is good, and I love my band and am happy I had weight loss surgery!!! Now, on with life. I teach Bikram Yoga which I love and am so happy I found it - the first exercise I could love. It keeps me honest and I love that about it. I'm wrapping up this blog here with this post. However, I have others on here where you can keep up with me. I am also on facebook (jenn steff) if you ever have lapband questions!

Thanks all for your love, support and for reading :)
Jenn

Now I look at this and think, "Who is she???"....

Congratulations Jenn! My lapband surgery was 3 years ago today (9/13), so we're just one day apart.

I've been reading your blog since you started it and have enjoyed watching your journey. You've done FANTASTIC and I love it that you can wear a 2 piece at the beach.

I'm trailing a little bit behind you, and I can blame that on not exercising. I'm also a 10 and every once in a while an 8.

The band is a fabulous thing! Congratulations!!! :)

Just a note to let you know that I've been searching out other lap band blogs and am really inspired by your success. I just started a blog myself, stop by and take a peek if you have a chance. I'd love to get your feedback:

Your blog gives me hope that my journey will be successful, too. There's a lot of negative stuff to read about the lap band online, and I appreciate your positive spin. I have surgery next Wednesday, May 27, 2009, and I've started my own blog to help me get through it. Thanks for the inspiration.

Have LOVED reading your blog. My surgery is Sept 25th and I cannot wait to lose the fat suit that I have been wearing for far too long.

You look INCREDIBLE...hope I too can wear a bikini.

Astounding. In your "before" picture below, I'd guess you to be closer to my age (I'm 39). In the "after" picture above, I'd guess young 20's?

Regardless of your actual age, it's amazing to me how much obesity (and, for the record, I'm obese and considering a lap band) *ages* a person, cosmetically. Yet one more reason to consider the surgery.

Anyone know if middle aged men do well with lap bands, too? I know that the testosterone works in my favor, but the age works against me...

Greetings;

Nice blog! I write the blogs for California Surgical Institute and just did a blog on Lap Banders who do Yoga. Your tale was inspring! Just for the record: I understand you currently tip the scales at about 160 but at what weight did you start?

Hi I just wanted to thank you for your blog. I am actually scheduled to be banded in a few weeks but my doctor "thinks" it will be ok if I return to Bikram. I have been practicing for years but am by o means an expert. I tend to catch a class every couple of days to detox and de-stress. And although it has toned me I am still very overweight (235lbs!!)
I was concerned that the band would "move" or bother me during some of the postures. Im assuming you've had no problem with this issue?

I don't know if you're still checking comments. My name is Leah Ingram, and I'm writing profiles of men and women who have chosen to have Lapband (versus another kind of weight loss surgery). I'm posting requests on multiple Lapband-related blogs to find people to interview and that's how I found your blog. If you're interested in speaking with me--or know people who are, can you drop me an email? It is leah dot ingram AT comcast dot net My deadline is the week of 9/12/11. We can talk by phone or do the interview by email. Thanks. Hope to hear from you. Leah
